Pajer pies

These delicious cakes, baked especially during the pilgrimage season, offer both curd and fudge filling, sprinkled with grated gingerbread and richly buttered. They are sold in local bakeries and cafés and can also be tasted during the summer pilgrimages themselves - the most famous is the Bartholomew's Pilgrimage in Luky nad Jihlavou at the end of August.

Where did you get the word Pajerské? It is a corruption of the word "Bavarian" - the local traditions were strongly influenced by the Germans from Jihlava, who came here from Bavaria in the 13th century during the colonisation in connection with silver smithing.
