Jihlava's city fortifications are significant for their unprecedented extent, but also for their contribution to the military significance of the city, situated on the border between Bohemia and Moravia. The nature trail leads along the preserved parts of the fortification and introduces the development and history of this important monument.

The trip along the Jihlava Fortress nature trail will start at the Gate of the Mother of God. From there we continue along the Mother of God Street for a short distance and then turn right to Minorite Square. We go around the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and reach the castle parkland. The trail in this part follows Hradební Street, opposite the City Park department store it crosses Znojemská Street and again follows Čajkovského Street along the parkán. At the end we cross Brněnská Street and still following the parkway we go around the Church of St. James the Greater. It is reached by stairs from the Malý Heulos forest park. At the church, turn right and follow Hluboká Street to Masaryk Square. From the exit at the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the trail crosses diagonally across the upper part of the square to Komenský Street, which leads to the Horácké Theatre. Here the trail turns left, continues along Divadelní Street and at the end turns right into Palackého Street, then left into Jan Masaryk Park, where you pass the Dukla Cinema on your right. At the end of the park, cross Husova Street and go back to the Gate of the Mother of God via Věžní Street and Gustav Mahler Park.
