Nature reserve Zaječí skok

Opening hours:

Admission:

The oldest reserve in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands is a place for sports and relaxation.

Zaječí skok is located between Rantířov and Jihlava. The steep rocks in the valley of the Jihlava River, 170 metres long and 30 metres high, have been a nature reserve since 1933. It is accessible from Jihlava (about 3 km) or from Rantířov (about 2.5 km) along the red tourist trail. During your walk, look out for important plants, such as the rock fern, overhanging rose, liverwort. Among the animals, you can see the kingfisher, river otter, great otter or water scorpion.

The reserve takes its name from the legend of a knight who chased a hare to the edge of a cliff while hunting. The hare plunged down, the knight could no longer hold his horse and collapsed as well. Since then, the rock has also been called Hare's Leap and the imprint of a horse's shoe can still be seen on the stone.

Go to Jihlava for a walk.
