Former military chapel with paintings from the war year 1916 combining war and religious themes

The chapel is located in the oldest stone building on the outskirts of Jihlava, which was built in 1782 at the instigation of Emperor Joseph II by the governor Max von Motschitz. For the purpose of a military hospital. The chapel was not envisaged in the original plans. It was not built until 1916 during the First World War. These are unique paintings combining religious and military themes. The style of the paintings combines late Viennese Art Nouveau with elements of Impressionism. In the present building, the chapel is consecrated and functions as a representative meeting room for the police school. The chapel is not normally open to the public. Only once a month there are regular guided tours organised by the destination company Brána Jihlava.
