Originally the Gothic fortress belonged to the Benedictine monastery in Trebic. In the 16th century it underwent a Renaissance reconstruction and acquired rich sgraffito decoration.
The fortress houses a local regional museum, accessible by prior arrangement with Mrs Rečová at 603413261.
