Marian Column
Masaryk Square
586 01 Jihlava
The symbol of thanks for protecting the city from the plague epidemic stands on the square.
The Marian (plague) column was erected in the square in 1690. Its top is adorned with the Immaculata, a copy of the statue whose original is located in the historical building of the town hall. The corners of the pedestal are decorated with statues of St. Francis Xavier, St. Joseph, St. Sebastian and St. James.
Near the column you will find a memorial plaque to Eugene Plock, who burned himself to death in 1969 in protest against the Soviet occupation.
