Church of St. James the Greater
Lipartova
588 53 Brtnice
The present appearance of the simple Baroque building dates from 1776 - 1784. The church was founded in the Middle Ages.
It preserves important works of art - the late Gothic wooden group "Laying in the Grave" dates from the first third of the 16th century. A Renaissance metal lamp of eternal light, a gilded baptismal font and other objects were donated by Hynek Brtnický of Wallenstein and Kateřina Zajímačka of Kunštát between 1573 and 1596.
The church paintings and sculptures are also significant, especially the Pieta from 1718 and the Guardian Angel from 1715, carvings by the Brno sculptor David Lipart. The parish church preserves the relics of an unknown early Christian martyr called St. Fidelius. They were brought to Brtnice from Rome in 1732.
