The Jihlava underground with a total length of 25 kilometers is the second largest in the Czech Republic. It hides secret passages and a mysterious glowing wall. It includes collectors and a civil defense shelter from the last century.

Explore the labyrinth of corridors under Masaryk Square and the historical buildings of Jihlava. The corridors were minted in the rock on several floors during the 14th to 16th centuries, up to a depth of 14 meters. The reason for its creation was probably economic. Merchants and craftsmen expanded the existing cellars to store their goods, which were deepened by experienced miners. During the German occupation, part of the corridors served as an air raid shelter.

The greatest rarity and mystery of the underground is the corridor, the walls of which glow greenishly after lighting. It was discovered by amateur speleologists only in 1978 at a depth of about 11 meters below the surface. Perceptive people feel the action of energy here.

For visitors, there are exhibitions dedicated to medieval mining, mini-museum mining landscape and mining village, examples of coinage and ore processing. Interesting is the exhibition dealing with Jihlava mining law. There is also a show of ceramic finds from Jihlava in the 14th century and rocks and minerals that are found in the Highlands.

You can visit the important historical monument of Jihlava with children and in a group. There are three sightseeing tours. The first is the labyrinth of the underground itself. The second is the collectors, called by the locals as the Jihlava metro. It is used for the distribution of utilities and during their inspection you can expect to climb steel ladders. The third circuit includes the Alfa civil defense shelter from the 70s of the last century. It includes an infirmary for the wounded, radiation meters, air filters, period connecting technology, sanitary facilities and hygiene items.

In modern history, the underground opened its doors to the public in June 1991.
